Yaaaay, it’s finally getting warmer and we can start thinking about our spring clothes. About bloody time as it sets into March! I am such a spring/summer bunny, probably as my birthday is in winter and i’ve always wished for the sun on my back while celebrating with a few pimms. With the the sun finally teasing our presence, it’s time to ditch those puffer jackets and start using layers to create that extra bit of warmth for those early double figure temperatures. Layering can always be such an aesthetically pleasing way of creating depth in any outfit. When swooning through Instagram or Pinterest there are always thousands of #toppic worthy pictures created by layering. This type of style can seem complex to achieve but when you break it down it actually can be incredibly easy and a great way of staying slightly warmer this spring.
Below are my tip easy tip to create amazing layering this summer. Enjoy
1. Different length pieces.
The way to master layering is to always look for pieces with different lengths or shapes to create that multi-layered effect. You can opt for a skinny jean or trouser underneath or in my case a wide leg to create the base. You then want to find different length pieces like this longline jumper and place it over a shirt which hangs slightly lower than the front to create the perfect multi-layer.
2. Unleash the details.
Other easy ways are by tucking in pieces or rolling up sleeves to reveal the beneath layer. This can create dimension but also give a pop of colour. I love looking for interesting details in each piece that you can show off in a different way.
3. Pick your colours.
You can use complimentary colours or use pieces in the same tone with different textures to create a multi-dimensional look. Or you can go all out pop art and go for completely different colours if you want to be a walking rainbow of spring. This isn’t quite my style, I like more simplistic tones like this outfit but whatever floats your boat could work!
Just feel free with it, you never really know what layering can look like until you try it all on together. Seeing pieces just on a hanger or mannequin never really shows how it can hang on you. Just experiment with your favourite colours and textures and use cute details in pieces to make it really stand out.
